The Coalition “Pod lupom”, together with the institutions of prosecutor’s offices and police agencies at all levels in Bosnia and Herzegovina, continues with activities to strengthen the integrity of the election process and strengthen the role of law enforcement authorities and prosecutor’s offices. After the meetings organized in Brčko District of BiH and Banja Luka a final consultative meeting was held in Sarajevo with representatives of prosecutor’s offices and police agencies.
Representatives of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Federal Prosecutor’s Office of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the District Public Prosecutor’s Office in East Sarajevo, the District Public Prosecutor’s Office in Trebinje, the Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office of Zenica-Doboj Canton, the Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office of Sarajevo Canton, the Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office of Herzegovina-Neretva Canton , the Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office of the West – Herzegovina Canton, the Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office of the Bosnian-Podrinje Canton and the Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office of Canton 10, took part in the meeting.
Representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the West Herzegovina Canton, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Bosnian-Podrinje Canton, the police Department East Sarajevo, the police Department Trebinje and the police Department Foča, took part in the meeting on behalf of police agencies.
Representatives of the State Agency for Investigation and Protection – SIPA and representatives of the OSCE Mission to BiH and the Office of the Special Representative of the European Union also took part at the Sarajevo’s meeting.
At the meeting, experiences were exchanged on the processing of election irregularities and criminal offenses, and also the challenges that prosecutors’ offices and police agencies are facing in this process were discussed.
Acknowledging the fact that prosecutor’s offices and police agencies have a significant role in ensuring free and fair elections and one of the key roles in protecting the integrity of the electoral process in Bosnia and Herzegovina, by completing the first phase of consultative meetings, the first steps were taken to start the second phase of activities and define areas for training prosecutors’ offices and police agencies that are planned to be organised in the period to come.
