In a society increasingly burdened by apathy, distrust, and fear, the Coalition “Pod lupom” reminds us in its new video spot of a simple yet profound truth: democracy does not vanish overnight, it disappears when we stop fighting for it.
In a symbolic narrative, viewers are taken through scenes depicting the suffocation of freedom, corruption, injustice, and helplessness. The video leads us through familiar everyday images: silenced voices of those who dare to speak out, powerful politicians above the law, and journalists removed for asking the “wrong” questions.
“This video is not about us, it is about the society we live in. It is about every person seeking justice, every family considering leaving the country because they’ve lost hope. We want to remind citizens that democracy does not disappear all at once, but the moment we decide it’s no longer our concern to fight for any rights,” the Coalition “Pod lupom” stated.
The video, which visually and emotionally captures a reality where fear and injustice have become part of daily life, ends with a moment of change when an individual decides not to remain a silent observer. The family portrayed in the video becomes a symbol of all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina who face a daily choice: to stay silent or to act. The turning point comes when an ordinary family decides to stop waiting for someone else to make a change.
The video concludes with the message: “Democracy disappears – but only if we let it.” At the heart of this message lies a call for responsibility and civic engagement, focusing on citizens who wish to live in a country where voices are heard, justice and laws are respected, and freedom is protected.
The message is clear: change begins the moment we decide to care, when we become ready to act and stand up for freedom and truth,” the Coalition “Pod lupom” added.
For over a decade, the Coalition “Pod lupom” has brought together citizens and civil society organizations who believe in the power of active citizenship. The Coalition invites all interested citizens to join upcoming “Pod lupom” activities and contribute not only to free and fair elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina but also to the broader democratization of society.
