Coalition ‘Pod lupom’ gathers six non-governmental organizations from Bosnia and Herzegovina who, through their work in the field of elections and electoral legislation, contribute to free, fair and democratic elections, and the improvement of the electoral process.
Job description
The purpose of the working groups is to undertake research in the field of election legislation of Member Stares in the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), with special emphasis on the countries of the Western Balkans region. This is related to the recommendations from the Coalition’s final report on the observation of the pre-election and election periods of 2014 General Election.
The expected result is to define best practices in pre-identified priority areas of electoral legislation, consolidate them into a single document, and distribute that to the public and relevant institutions. The length of the engagement is three months and those hired will be provided a monthly stipend.
In addition, travel, accommodation, and telephone expenses will be covered. Weekly workload for members of the working group shall not exceed 20 hours.
Researchers/assistants are expected of the following:
- Attend the initial meeting of the working group at the Head Office of the Coalition in Sarajevo upon the group’s formation;
- Attend monthly meetings of the working group at the group’s agreed-upon location;
- Participate regularly in weekly group meetings via Skype;
- Participate in additional meetings as needed and agreed upon by the working group and the Coalition;
- Timely execution of research tasks.
The legal advisor of the Coalition will prepare and submit all the working materials with detailed instructions to the members.
Candidates’ qualifications are:
- University degree or students in their final year of Law or Faculty of Political Science;
- Experience or previous involvement in projects related to the political constitution, elections, election observation, etc.;
- Experience or previous involvement in research projects;
- Expressed interest in improving personal knowledge of the electoral process;
- Demonstrated analytical ability and expressed interest in research;
- Willingness to work in a team, willingness to travel within BiH;
- Excellent knowledge of English (reading, writing, speaking);
- Excellent computer skills and Internet access.
