The Coalition “Pod lupom”, together with the institutions of prosecutor’s offices and police agencies at all levels in BiH, continues to implement activities in order to strengthen the integrity of the electoral process as well as to strengthen the role of law enforcement authorities and prosecutor’s offices. After the first consultative meeting organised in Brčko District of BiH, a second consultative meeting was organised in Banja Luka with other representatives of prosecutor’s offices and police agencies.
Representatives of the Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office of the Una-Sana Canton and the Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office of the Central Bosnia Canton took part in the meeting on behalf of the prosecution offices.
On behalf of the police agencies, the representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Una-Sana Canton, Ministry of Internal Affairs of Central Bosnia Canton, Ministry of Internal Affairs of Canton 10, Police Department Banja Luka, Police Department Mrkonjić Grad, Police Department Prijedor and Police Department Gradiška took part in the meeting.
Experiences on the processing of electoral irregularities and criminal offenses and the challenges that prosecutors’ offices and police agencies are facing in this process were discussed and exchanged at the meeting.
Acknowledging the fact that prosecutor’s offices and police agencies have a significant role in ensuring free and fair elections, as well as one of the key roles in protecting the integrity of the electoral process in BiH, the meeting represents the first step towards defining the areas for trainings of prosecutor’s offices and police agencies that are planned to be organised in the period to come.
A final meeting with representatives of police agencies and prosecutor’s offices is planned to be organised in Sarajevo on October 10, 2023.
