The Coalition “Pod lupom”, together with the institutions of prosecutor’s offices and police agencies at all levels in BiH, continues to implement activities to strengthen the integrity of the election process and strengthen the role of law enforcement authorities and prosecutor’s offices. The first consultative meeting was held in the premises of the Police of Brčko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Representatives of the District Public Prosecutor’s Office of Bijeljina, the District Public Prosecutor’s Office of Doboj, the Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office of Tuzla Canton, the Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office of Posavina Canton and the Prosecutor’s Office of the Brčko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina took part in the first meeting.
Representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tuzla Canton, Doboj Police Department, Ministry of Internal Affairs of Posavina Canton, Bijeljina Police Department, Zvornik Police Department and Brčko District Police took part in the meeting on behalf of the police agencies. Representatives of the OSCE Mission to BiH also joined the first meeting.
Experiences on the processing of electoral irregularities and criminal offenses were exchanged at the meeting and the challenges that prosecutors’ offices and police agencies face in this process were also discussed.
Acknowledging the fact that prosecutor’s offices and police agencies have a significant role in ensuring free and fair elections as well as one of the key roles in protecting the integrity of the electoral process in BiH, the meeting itself was the first step towards defining the areas for trainings of prosecutor’s offices and police agencies that are planned to be organized in the period to come.
Next meetings with representatives of police agencies and prosecutor’s offices are planned to be organised in Banja Luka on September 21 and Sarajevo on October 05, 2023.
