The Coalition for Free and Fair Elections “Pod lupom” reported the “ŽIVOT” party in mid-August for premature campaigning.
On the official Facebook profile of Bogdan Jovanović, the president of the “ŽIVOT” party, as well as on the official Facebook page of the “ŽIVOT” party, a video clip was published in which Jovanović, among other things, presents candidates, part of the program, and the goals of the “ŽIVOT” party for the upcoming 2026 General Elections.
The Election Law of BiH defines premature campaigning as “any form of campaign activities undertaken by political subjects in the period from the announcement of elections until the official start of the election campaign.”
Additionally, the Election Law of BiH defines the election campaign as “activities and procedures… during which a political subject, in a manner prescribed by law, acquaints voters and the public with their programs and candidates for the upcoming elections.”
Based on the aforementioned publication, the applicant of the initiative considers this a violation of Article 7.1 of the Election Law of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Central Election Commission determined that this constitutes premature campaigning, judging that it does not necessarily have to include an explicit call to vote. The “ŽIVOT” party was issued a fine of 3,500 KM.
