The Steering Board of the Peace Implementation Council (PIC) has called on the authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina to adopt the 2025 state budget without delay, emphasizing that this is essential for the smooth functioning of state institutions. Particular focus was placed on the need to ensure that the budget provides funds for the 2026 General Elections.
In a joint statement following their meeting in Sarajevo, PIC members urged domestic authorities to ensure, through proper budget planning, the financing of measures that will strengthen the integrity and transparency of the electoral process. They stressed that this is crucial for building citizens’ trust in democratic processes and for maintaining the country’s stability.
The Steering Board members also stated that political leaders must recognize and respond to the clear aspirations of citizens for membership in the European Union and Euro-Atlantic integration. In this context, they emphasized the importance of adopting reforms that will align Bosnia and Herzegovina with European standards and enable progress on the path to integration.
