After the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CEC BiH) rescheduled the 2024 Local elections in Fojnica, Kiseljak, Kreševo, and Konjic for October 20, 2024—following their postponement due to a natural disaster in these municipalities—the Coalition for Free and Fair Elections “Pod Lupom” announced non-partisan citizen monitoring in these basic constituencies.
Unfortunately, the residents of these municipalities faced a major tragedy due to the natural disaster. The Coalition “Pod lupom” recognizes that elections are not a priority for many under these new circumstances. However, legal deadlines require that the postponed elections be held within 30 days of the initially scheduled election date, which is why CEC BiH was obligated to act in accordance with the Election Law of Bosnia and Herzegovina and schedule the elections during this challenging time. Given that the elections will proceed, “Pod lupom” will ensure independent election observation in these municipalities, continuing their efforts to make the election process transparent and protect citizens’ electoral will.
“Pod lupom” observers will monitor the setup and opening of polling stations, the voting process, the closing of polling stations, the vote counting, and the handling of election materials. They will monitor any potential election irregularities and work to resolve them to ensure that the election process runs smoothly and in accordance with the law.
Regarding the election process for the postponed elections, the public and the media will be informed of the Coalition’s findings in real-time through press releases and media updates, which will be published on election day at 10:00 AM, 4:00 PM, and 10:00 PM on www.podlupom.org and via the Coalition’s social media.
The Coalition “Pod lupom” also invites citizens to share their positive or negative election experiences through the form available at https://mojeiskustvo.podlupom.org/. Citizens can also continue to report election irregularities via the toll-free number 080 05 05 05.
