“I am voting for the first time!” is the project activity of the Coalition “Pod lupom” which means the education of young voters, citizens of BiH who are, or will be 18 years old soon, thus be eligible to vote. Education is about the elections (especially the upcoming local elections) and the importance of their participation in the electoral process.
The turnout for the elections is very important for the development of democracy in BiH explains Ramiz Murtić, one of the coordinators of this activity.
,,Young people constitute about 21% electoral body. Implementation of these activities is very important for the first-time voters, and they should be encouraged, further motivated and educated about the electoral process”, says Murtić.
Each educator will educate 540 students in average through 24 workshops planned in at least four different high schools.
,,Activity ‘’I am voting for the first time!” is an extraordinary opportunity where young people can be encouraged to think about their future and create a more prosperous and healthier country,” says Ranka Kazimirović, peer educator of the Coalition “Pod lupom”.
This activity is being implemented as a part of three year BASE project, which is financially supported by the European Union.
